How to Make Babies in the Womb Happy

I saw my baby for the first time last week. It made me so happy to see a white blob in the middle of the scan. And I knew, at that time, I wanted to make my baby happy. So, how do I establish a connection? How do I make my baby’s life joyful from the very beginning? I’ve read several suggestions on the internet and here are a few I did myself.
1. Sing
I’ve always loved to sing. There wasn’t a day in my life that I didn’t sing. But lately, I have been singing less and less because I just can’t find the time to do so. I’m so busy with work, with my studies, and even with sleeping. Since I became pregnant, I have become such a sleepyhead. I read that singing makes the baby happy. Unborn babies love music even when they are still in the womb and the mother’s voice is the first of vibrations that they can recognize. With this information, I was convinced that I should sing more. Singing makes me happy and I’m glad it’s an activity I can share with my little mustard.
When I was younger, I sang with my twin sister. Singing was part of our daily routine. We sang as we worked. We sang as we studied. I especially love singing when doing the laundry or washing dishes. Music makes life a little bit easier and a lot more enjoyable. I remember when my sister and I fought, we wouldn’t want to sing together. If she starts to sing with me, I’ll say, “Are you my friend? Why are you singing with me?” and she’ll do the same. But then we’d make up immediately because we can’t help but want to sing together. It’s quite the sight. Perhaps that’s one of the reasons why our fights never go on for longer than two hours.
I plan on making a list of songs to sing for my baby. How exciting is that?
My mom used to sing us to sleep. There were times when she’d run out of songs to sing. She told us that there was this one time when she didn’t know what to sing to us anymore, she sang the opening song of Voltes 5.
2. Read aloud
I love reading but I love reading aloud even more. The sound of [the mother’s] voice can soothe the baby (American Pregnancy Association). I read my scriptures aloud these days and I find enjoyment in it. It’s also good for me to continue practicing and polishing my pronunciation and intonation. Starting a pregnancy journal and reading it aloud to my little mustard sounds like a good and exciting idea as well.
3. Meditate
I’ve been working for a long time and because of that, I rarely have time to meditate. My mom always tells me that what’s good for me is also good for the baby so I shouldn’t just mind what I eat but also what thoughts and feelings I let in on myself. Stress is bad for everyone. Meditating is a good stress-buster and I’m happy to know that it is also a way for mom and baby to bond.
These three are just a few of the things I’ve been trying to do for my baby. My only wish is for my little one to grow healthy, strong, and happy.
Thank you for reading today.
